Managing Director Jim Benson and Operations Director Alex Benson take a hands-on approach to the company’s developments. Personally overseeing the whole process from site selection and the design stage onwards means the management team can ensure that quality comes as standard in each home the company builds.

What features do people want in a new home?
AB: Our homebuyers tell us they love our homes because of the quality of the build and careful design. They also single out the feeling of space and light. That’s something we’ve consciously built into every home from the start of the business. Oh and they love our bathrooms and kitchens.

You claim your bathrooms have continental styling?
AB: Our sanitary ware not only looks incredible it’s also made to last. I visited the Porcelanosa factory in Spain and I definitely liked what I saw.

We don’t compromise on quality or design and neither do they. Attention to the smallest styling details certainly makes them number one for practicality and elegance in my book.

Why build in Ayrshire?
JB: We often sell to professional people who work elsewhere but love the kind of lifestyle Ayrshire offers their families. So location is tremendously important. For instance, our current development at Kilmaurs has terrific road and rail links, and is also good for the major airports.

Who designs your homes?
JB: Alex and I start out with a very clear idea of what’s important in our homes. We’ve got a keen young design team who’ve caught the vision and know how to make our ideas work. And we’ve recently been joined by John Browne a very experienced architect who’s brought a lifetime of skill and flair to the company. That’s an exciting development for us and for our homebuyers.

And where will Alexander Morton be building next?
JB: Definitely still in Ayrshire. And maybe not too far from our current development. AB: You’ll have to watch this space
